Inside a Private Jet: What the Cabin Actually Looks Like

Private jet interiors range from "nicer than business class" to "better than a four-star hotel suite." The class of jet determines the baseline; operators and aircraft owners then customise above that. Here is what to expect at each level.

Very Light Jet Interior

Cabin width: approximately 1.4–1.5 m. Seats: 4–5, usually in a club-four configuration (two pairs facing each other). Standing height: not possible (1.2–1.4 m cabin height). Leather seats, fold-out table, personal air vent. No lavatory in most models (exception: HondaJet Elite has a rear enclosure). Best compared to a luxury minivan, not a hotel room.

Light Jet Interior

Phenom 300E: 1.55 m cabin height (stand-up in the aisle area), 1.45 m wide. Six to eight seats, fully flat configuration available in some layouts. Enclosed lavatory. Overhead baggage bin. USB-A/C and 110V power at each seat position. Noise level: 68 dB at cruise — conversation at normal volume possible.

Midsize Jet Interior

Citation XLS+: 1.73 m stand-up cabin. Challenger 350: 1.83 m stand-up, 2.18 m wide — significantly more spacious. Club four + divan (sofa seating). Full-size wardrobe. Certified flat-bed configuration available. Separate lavatory with vanity mirror and storage. Galley with oven/microwave. Satellite phone, Ka-band Wi-Fi as standard on newer builds.

The Challenger 350 cabin is the reference standard in European corporate aviation — wide enough to pass someone in the aisle comfortably, tall enough for a 185 cm passenger to stand upright, and quiet enough for uninterrupted calls at cruise.

Heavy Jet Interior

Global 6000: three separate cabin zones — forward lounge, mid cabin (eight-seat conference), aft sleeping area with full flat bed. Bespoke cabinetry, air-to-ground phone, 1080p entertainment screens, separate crew rest area. Lavatory with shower on the Global 7500 (the first business jet with a certified shower room).

Ultra Long Range / VIP

Gulfstream G700: four living zones, panoramic oval windows (largest in business aviation), galley with full catering capability. Can be configured as flying boardroom, bedroom suite, or entertainment lounge. Bose Active Noise Cancellation throughout.

Boeing BBJ / Airbus ACJ: airline-body aircraft converted to VIP cabins — master bedroom, office, dining room, crew area. These are moving residences, not aircraft cabins in the conventional sense. Charter from €75,000/hour.
