How to Book a Private Jet: Step-by-Step Guide
Booking a private jet for the first time can feel daunting. In practice, the process is straightforward once you know what to expect — especially when working with a reputable broker.
Step 1: Define Your Requirements
- Departure and destination airport (or nearest city)
- Date and approximate departure time
- Number of passengers
- Any special requirements: catering, pets, sports equipment, medical needs
Step 2: Submit an Enquiry to a Broker
A broker will respond within 15 to 60 minutes with multiple options showing jet type, operator, price and catering options. This service is free and non-binding — you pay nothing until you confirm a booking.
Step 3: Compare and Select
Review the options carefully. Ask for:
- The all-inclusive total price (positioning, landing fees, taxes included)
- The operator name and AOC certificate number
- Cancellation terms and deposit requirements
Step 4: Confirm and Pay
Once you accept an offer, you receive a charter agreement. Payment is typically by bank transfer. A deposit of 20 to 30 percent is standard; full payment is usually due 48 to 72 hours before departure.
Step 5: Provide Passenger Details
The operator requires passport details for all passengers for APIS (Advance Passenger Information System) submission. This is standard for all international charter flights.
Step 6: Depart
Arrive at the FBO terminal (private terminal) 15 to 20 minutes before departure. No queues, no security theatre — directly to the aircraft. Your luggage is handled immediately.
