The Pilatus PC-12 is the world's best-selling single-engine turboprop — and one of the most remarkable all-rounders in private aviation. Its combination of low operating costs, exceptional short-field performance (510 m takeoff roll), and a surprising range of over 3,400 km pairs economy with versatility. Ideal for Alpine airstrips, short runways, and any route where a jet is too expensive or too large.
For routes under 1,200 km with small groups, the PC-12 is the most economical charter option. Highly recommended for Alpine transfers (Innsbruck, Sion, Lugano) and islands with short runways. Not suitable for time-critical journeys — the PC-12 cruises at approximately 480 km/h versus 800+ km/h for jets.

The PC-12 is a single-engine turboprop — propeller-driven. The PC-24 is a twin-jet (two jet engines). The PC-12 is cheaper, slower, and ideal for short runways. The PC-24 is faster, more comfortable, and has longer range — but costs more.
From around €1,500 for very short legs (Munich–Innsbruck). For typical short routes up to 500 km, costs range from €2,000 to €4,000. The PC-12 is the most affordable charter option for small groups.
The PC-12 requires only 510 m of takeoff roll and can land on unpaved surfaces. This gives access to Alpine airstrips (Sion, Innsbruck, Courchevel with conditions), islands, and regional airports unsuitable for jets.
Turboprops are louder than jets — propeller noise is clearly audible in the cabin. Active noise-cancelling headphones are recommended. For frequent flyers, the comfort difference versus jets is noticeable.
